Where to find luggage storage in Savannah
Our BagDrop network covers the areas visitors spend the most time in. Here's a rundown:
River Street and the Waterfront
River Street runs along the Savannah River with brick and cobblestone underfoot. The old cotton warehouses now hold restaurants, candy shops, galleries and bars. Riverboats dock here. The street is uneven and crowded. This is not where you want to be with a suitcase. Leave your bags at a BagDrop and enjoy the waterfront hands-free.
Forsyth Park and the Historic District
Forsyth Park is the green heart of Savannah. The famous cast-iron fountain is here, plus walking paths, a farmers market on weekends and plenty of shade under the oaks. The surrounding streets are lined with historic homes. The park is perfect for a stroll, but the paths and the crowds make luggage awkward. We have BagDrop spots nearby.
Broughton Street and the Shopping District
Broughton Street is Savannah's main shopping strip. You'll find national brands, indie boutiques, cafes and the SCAD retail presence. The sidewalks are wide by historic-district standards but still get crowded. If you're planning to shop, drop your bags first. You'll have your hands free for bags of pralines and vintage finds.
The Historic Squares
Savannah's 22 squares are what make the city unique. Each one has its own character, with monuments, benches and live oaks. Walking from square to square is the best way to see the historic district. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist towers over one neighbourhood. The Mercer-Williams House (of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fame) is in another. All of it is walkable. None of it is easy with luggage.
SCAD and the Arts District
SCAD has transformed Savannah into an arts and design hub. The school has restored historic buildings across the city and runs museums, galleries and a cinema. If you're visiting for a show, an exhibition or campus tour, drop your bags at a BagDrop. The galleries and theatres are not built for storage.
Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island
Bonaventure Cemetery is a few miles east of downtown. The moss-draped oaks and ornate graves have made it famous. Tybee Island is Savannah's beach, about 20 minutes by car. Both are day-trip worthy. If you're heading out to either, store your bags in town first. Bonaventure's paths are not for rolling luggage, and you don't want sand in your suitcase.
