    Luggage Storage in Victoria

Victoria feels like a different country from the rest of Canada. Flowers blooming in February. Palm trees. People drinking afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress like it's completely normal. It's the mildest climate in the country, and it shows.

Here's the problem, though. Most people get here by BC Ferries from Tsawwassen (about a 1.5-hour sailing plus the drive), and a lot of them are doing it as a day trip from Vancouver. Others arrive on cruise ships - over 250 dock at Ogden Point every year. Either way, you've probably got bags you don't want to carry around the Inner Harbour.

BagsAway has partner locations around downtown Victoria where you can drop your luggage. Starting at $1.50 per hour, insured up to $1,200 per bag. Book online, show up, leave your stuff, and go watch whales or whatever.

Why people need luggage storage in Victoria

    • Day-tripping from Vancouver via BC Ferries with overnight bags
    • Getting off a cruise ship at Ogden Point for a few hours onshore
    • Checking out of your hotel before your afternoon ferry back
    • Visiting Butchart Gardens (25 minutes outside the city) and not wanting bags on the bus
    • Flying out of YYJ later but wanting to explore downtown first

Where to Store Luggage in Victoria

Victoria's compact downtown means most of the sights are walkable - but only if you're not dragging a suitcase behind you. The ferry terminal at Swartz Bay is 30 minutes north of downtown and doesn't have storage lockers. The cruise terminal at Ogden Point is closer but also has nothing.

    Inner Harbour & Government Street

This is the heart of the city. The BC Parliament Buildings, the Fairmont Empress, the Royal BC Museum - they're all within a few blocks of each other. Our storage partners here put you right in the middle of everything. Drop your bags and walk along the harbour, grab fish and chips at Fisherman's Wharf (it's a 15-minute stroll south), or just sit on a bench and watch the float planes take off.

    Near Ogden Point Cruise Terminal

If you're coming off a cruise ship, Ogden Point is in the James Bay neighbourhood, a short walk south of downtown. We have partners in the area so you can store bags and spend your port day actually seeing Victoria instead of hauling stuff around. The breakwater walk at Ogden Point is great, by the way - you can walk right out along it.

    Chinatown & Old Town

Victoria has Canada's oldest Chinatown - it's small but it's genuine, with Fan Tan Alley (the narrowest street in the country) running through it. The Old Town area around it is packed with independent shops. Good spot to store bags if you're exploring the north end of downtown.

    Getting to Butchart Gardens

Butchart Gardens is about 25 minutes north by car or bus (BC Transit #75). It's stunning - 55 acres of gardens in a former limestone quarry. But there's no luggage storage there. Store your bags downtown before you head out, and pick them up when you're back.

Other Options for Luggage Storage in Victoria

Storage options in Victoria are surprisingly limited for a city that gets this many tourists.

    BC Ferries Terminal (Swartz Bay)

No lockers. The terminal is functional but bare-bones when it comes to amenities. You can't leave bags there.

    Ogden Point Cruise Terminal

The terminal handles hundreds of ships a year, but there's no public luggage storage for passengers going ashore. Cruise lines sometimes hold bags on the ship, but if you're disembarking for good, you're on your own.

    Victoria International Airport (YYJ)

It's a small regional airport. No dedicated luggage storage for passengers with long layovers or early arrivals.

    Hotels

Most Victoria hotels will hold bags on checkout day if you're a guest. The Fairmont Empress and a few others have bell services. But if you're not staying at the hotel, they'll usually say no.

Why BagsAway is the better option

We partner with real businesses in central Victoria. Book a spot online, drop off your bags during their hours, and pick up whenever you're ready. Insurance included (up to $1,200 per bag). Rates start at $1.50/hr with a daily maximum. No guessing, no asking strangers for favours.
