    Luggage storage in Whistler

Whistler hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics and it's still one of the best ski resorts on the planet. But here's the thing - it's not just a winter town anymore. Summer is packed too, with mountain biking, hiking, zip-lining, and patios that don't quit until sunset at 9:30pm. The drive up from Vancouver on the Sea-to-Sky Highway takes about 2 hours and it's genuinely one of the most scenic drives in Canada. People roll in with bags from the road trip and need somewhere to put them.

BagsAway works with local businesses in Whistler so you can drop your bags and get straight to the mountain. Storage starts at $1.50/hr, every bag is insured up to $1,200, and booking takes about 30 seconds. Way better than hoping your hotel will hold your stuff past checkout. Especially when checkout's at 11am and you want to squeeze in one more run.

Where to store luggage in Whistler

    Whistler Village

Whistler Village is pedestrian-only, which is great for walking around but terrible if you're dragging luggage. The whole centre is compact - shops, restaurants, bars, and the gondola base are all within a few minutes of each other. This is where most visitors spend their time. BagsAway locations in the Village let you stash bags and head straight to the lifts, grab lunch, or wander through the shops without a suitcase in tow.

Near Whistler Blackcomb & the Gondolas

Whistler Blackcomb gets an average of 11.6 meters of snow per year. That's not a typo. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola connecting the two mountains holds a world record for the longest unsupported span - the views from up there are absurd. In summer, the gondola runs for sightseeing and mountain biking. If you're doing a day trip from Vancouver and came with bags, store them near the gondola base and ride up unencumbered.

    Creekside

Creekside is Whistler's original village, about 5 minutes south of the main Village. It has its own gondola base (Creekside Gondola), fewer crowds, and a more local feel. Some people actually prefer starting their ski day here because the lift lines are shorter. There are restaurants and shops but it's quieter. Good spot to store bags if you're staying or skiing on this side.

    Village North & Marketplace

Village North is right next to the main Village and has the grocery stores, a pharmacy, and more practical stuff alongside restaurants and hotels. The Marketplace area has a similar mix. If you're picking up supplies or killing time before a bus back to Vancouver, it's handy to have your bags stored nearby rather than lugging them through the aisles.

    Function Junction

Function Junction is where the locals hang out. It's a light-industrial area south of the Village with breweries (Whistler Brewing Company, Coast Mountain Brewing), coffee roasters, and artist studios. It's become a legit destination in its own right. Not as tourist-heavy, which is part of the appeal.

    Getting to and around Whistler

There's no airport in Whistler. The nearest one is Vancouver International (YVR), about a 2-hour drive away. Helicopter and floatplane transfers exist but they're expensive. Most people drive or take a shuttle - Epic Rides and Whistler Shuttle both run regular service from Vancouver along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. There's no train service either; the Rocky Mountaineer doesn't stop here and VIA Rail doesn't come this way. Once you're in Whistler, BC Transit runs local buses and the Village itself is walkable. A lot of people stop at Shannon Falls and Squamish on the drive up, which means they show up with road trip luggage.

Other luggage storage options in Whistler

Whistler doesn't have a lot of storage infrastructure, which makes sense - it's a resort town, not a transit hub. There are no public lockers. Some hotels hold bags for current guests, and a few ski rental shops might let you leave a bag during the day if you're renting from them, but that's informal and not guaranteed.

    Here's how it breaks down:

    • BagsAway: From $1.50/hr, locations in and around Whistler Village, insurance included, book online in seconds
    • Hotel front desks: Usually only for guests. Most stop holding bags by late afternoon.
    • Ski rental shops: Some will hold a bag if you're a customer, but it's not a formal service
    • Public lockers: Don't exist in Whistler

The classic Whistler problem: checkout is at 11am, your shuttle back to Vancouver isn't until 5pm, and you want one more afternoon on the mountain or a long lunch in the Village. That gap is exactly what BagsAway is for. Same goes for day-trippers who drove up from Vancouver with all their stuff in the car and don't want to keep running back to the parking lot. Bears have been known to wander through the Village, so leaving food-adjacent bags in your car isn't always the best call either.
