Where to store luggage in Whistler
Whistler Village
Whistler Village is pedestrian-only, which is great for walking around but terrible if you're dragging luggage. The whole centre is compact - shops, restaurants, bars, and the gondola base are all within a few minutes of each other. This is where most visitors spend their time. BagsAway locations in the Village let you stash bags and head straight to the lifts, grab lunch, or wander through the shops without a suitcase in tow.
Near Whistler Blackcomb & the Gondolas
Whistler Blackcomb gets an average of 11.6 meters of snow per year. That's not a typo. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola connecting the two mountains holds a world record for the longest unsupported span - the views from up there are absurd. In summer, the gondola runs for sightseeing and mountain biking. If you're doing a day trip from Vancouver and came with bags, store them near the gondola base and ride up unencumbered.
Creekside
Creekside is Whistler's original village, about 5 minutes south of the main Village. It has its own gondola base (Creekside Gondola), fewer crowds, and a more local feel. Some people actually prefer starting their ski day here because the lift lines are shorter. There are restaurants and shops but it's quieter. Good spot to store bags if you're staying or skiing on this side.
Village North & Marketplace
Village North is right next to the main Village and has the grocery stores, a pharmacy, and more practical stuff alongside restaurants and hotels. The Marketplace area has a similar mix. If you're picking up supplies or killing time before a bus back to Vancouver, it's handy to have your bags stored nearby rather than lugging them through the aisles.
Function Junction
Function Junction is where the locals hang out. It's a light-industrial area south of the Village with breweries (Whistler Brewing Company, Coast Mountain Brewing), coffee roasters, and artist studios. It's become a legit destination in its own right. Not as tourist-heavy, which is part of the appeal.
Getting to and around Whistler
There's no airport in Whistler. The nearest one is Vancouver International (YVR), about a 2-hour drive away. Helicopter and floatplane transfers exist but they're expensive. Most people drive or take a shuttle - Epic Rides and Whistler Shuttle both run regular service from Vancouver along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. There's no train service either; the Rocky Mountaineer doesn't stop here and VIA Rail doesn't come this way. Once you're in Whistler, BC Transit runs local buses and the Village itself is walkable. A lot of people stop at Shannon Falls and Squamish on the drive up, which means they show up with road trip luggage.
