The Forks & Downtown
The Forks sits right where the Red and Assiniboine rivers meet, and it's the heart of Winnipeg for tourists. There's a huge market building, restaurants, river walks, and in winter the frozen rivers turn into skating trails. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is right next door - that building with the dramatic glass tower, you can't miss it. Getting around Winnipeg
Winnipeg Transit runs buses across the city - there's no rail system. Most of the downtown core and The Forks area is walkable, but getting to the airport (YWG) or outer neighborhoods you'll want a bus or rideshare. The city's pretty spread out and flat (very flat), so distances can be deceiving. In summer, biking is popular - the river trails are great.
